Little Fox Card

This card was quick and easy. I started with a brown A-2 base card. Next I cut a piece of pink DSP 4-7/8" x 3-3/4" and backed it with a piece of metallic blue card stock. I adhered it to the base card. Next I die cut a 3" circle using a piece of blue DSP (same design as pink) and glued it to the top-center of the card. I die cut a 2-1/2" circle out of white and embossed it with a swirl embossing folder. I attached it to the center of the blue DSP circle. I found the cutest acrylic FOX sticker at the JoAnn's (before they went out of business) and thought it would make the perfect focal image for the card...and it was!

The Creative Bee

This week I wanted to play around with my bee stamps and dies. I recently saw a card video showing an easy A-2 card with triangle DSP pieces. I started with a white A-2 size card. I had one sheet of golden bee designer paper, so cut it first into a 3" x 5" shape. Next I cut it in half going from the left bottom point to the right top point. I adhered the triangle pieces to a piece of white 3-3/4" x 5" card stock, backed with a piece of 4" x 5-1/4" piece of black card stock. This was then attached to the base card. The center area (diagonal) of the card is white, so I stamped two sentiments in this space, leaving room at the center for my beehive. I die cut a beehive in heavyweight white card stock, then added alternate black and gold strips on top. I added the beehive to the center using foam tape to raise it off the card. Lastly, I die cut a large golden bee and attached it to the right bottom.

Friendship Tea

I have a friend who loves anything British...especially tea, tea pots, tea sets, etc. This morning I wanted to make her a card with a tea theme and an inspirational quote inside. I just saw a fun card template that is a little different from the norm, so gave it a try. I think it turned out cute. The inspirational quote inside..."You are never to old to set another goal or to dream a new dream". That seemed appropriate since she just had another birthday.

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #688

Today I'm thinking 'green'. I saw the current card sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and liked the layout.
I started with an A-2 tan base card. I added some leaf designer paper at the top and some darker green (with gold accents) at the bottom. For the focal image I stamped a sentiment in green on white and attached it to the center. Before adding the sentiment, I attached a gold leaf die cut to two of the corners.

Simple Cards Using Templates

Very smart idea...making templates (with measurements to guide you) for card making. I like watching YouTube videos on fun fold cards and came across a goldmine of fun templates on the Klompen Stampers channel. Yesterday I made the card below from one of her templates (#26) and it was very quick and easy.
It startes with an A-2 card base, 3 die cut shapes, a die cut butterfly and a pretty piece of designer paper. So easy and I love the way it turned out. Check out her videos, she has so many quick and easy templates.

Dragonfly Delight Card

Freshly Made Sketches has a cute and simple sketch for a card I thought I'd make today.
I'm also entering the card into the Seize The Birthday Challenge #305 - Flowers.
I found a piece of floral Japanese Washi paper that I thought would make a pretty background. I cut the two layers to size and backed them with a dark blue card stock. At the top I stamped a happy birthday greeting in blue. I had just bought a dragonfly die, so decided to make two die-cut dragonflies in blue and gold for the center panel.

Inkspirational Challenge #340 - Seasonal

When I think of spring, my mind goes to flowers blooming everywhere. Today I wanted to participate in the Inkspirational Challenge #340, where the theme is Seasonal.
My color of choice for this card was coral and blue, so I started with a coral colored base card (5-1/2" x 5-1/2"). For the top layer, I cut a piece of white card stock 4-3/4" square. At the top right I stamped 'thinking of you' (a favorite Stampin' Up! image) in blue. I wanted to surround the sentiment with flowers, so got out my Stampin' Up! Stippled Blossoms set and stamped two large blossoms and cut them out. I stamped the leaves from the set, cut them out and added them to the blossoms. The two flowers were added to the white layer with foam mount tape to raise them off the card. In the open spaces I stamped three smaller flowers with leaves to balance the card. I attached the stamped layer to a dark blue layer and attached it to base card.

Double Flip Card

I love fun fold cards. I came across a video recently that shows a double flip card, which not only peeked my interest, but looked easy to make. So I followed along and made a template. Then today I made three cards to send to stamping friends. You start with an A-2 card and cut two panels (out of the top layer) on each side of the card. You add designer paper to the strips and center front (I added an embossed layer). Then make a sentiment panel to place across the bottom of the front (gluing it only to the outer two panels). Then you add an inner card for your message. For the image that goes beside the sentiment, I added a fussy-cut leaf branch.

Easter Greeting Card

Where did the time go? It's been a busy couple of months and I decided to take today to make Easter cards. I also wanted to participate in the current Festive Friday challange.
I didn't know exactly what type of card I wanted to make, so just looked through my stamps and finally decided on the images. First, I stamped the little girl and greeting in pink on an ivory card stock. Next, I stamped the cherry blossom branch at the top and colored in the flowers (using a fine tip artist brush) with the same color ink. I cut that layer to size and backed it with a black card stock to give it a border. Lastly, I added the layers to the pink A-2 folded card. It needed a little more, so I added some pink adhesive pearl dots in the open spaces.
